The Organising Bodies
The International Society for Computing
in Civil and Building Engineering
The ICCCBE Conference series is organised
by the International Society for Computing
in Civil and Building Engineering, the
ISCCBE. The ISCCBE is a society with
international country representation. The
list of country representatives is given
under the Committees section of this guide.
The ICCCBE bi-annual conference series is
one of the largest and leading forums in the
area of information technology in civil and
building engineering. It has been previously
organised in New York 1981, Hangzhou 1985,
Vancouver 1988, Tokyo 1991, Anaheim 1993,
Berlin 1995, Seoul 1997, Stanford 2000,
Taipei 2002, Weimar 2004, Montreal 2006 and
Beijing 2008. After the icccbe2010 in
Nottingham, the conference is planned for
Moscow in 2012.
The European Group for Intelligent
Computing in Engineering
The EG-ICE is a group that was formed 17
years ago in Lausanne Switzerland. It holds
yearly workshops independently and in
conjunction with larger meetings, such as
the icccbe2010. The focus of EG-ICE is to
promote research and applications of
advanced informatics to activities in
engineering. The group maintains active
contact with similar groups in countries
outside Europe and encourages overseas
memberships.
The University of Nottingham
The University of Nottingham’s Faculty of
Engineering and the Department of Civil
Engineering are the host and local organiser
of the conference. The Faculty supports
international research forums and has
strongly supported and backed the
organisation of this conference. This forms
part of its research strategy in being
research-led and in encouraging research
dissemination and knowledge exchange.
The
University of Nottingham is a leading
University in the UK. It was confirmed as a
world-class University in the global league
tables. It is ranked in the UK top 10 and
the world top 100 by the Shanghai Jiao Tong
(SJTU) and the Times Higher Education-QS
World University Rankings. The University
has two international campuses: one in
Malaysia and one in China.
The Department of
Civil Engineering was ranked second in
England for the quality of its research in
the latest Government organised Research
Assessment Exercise (RAE 2008).
